Kentucky Derby Project

If you can’t be at the Kentucky Derby, this is the place to be!

For the past two days I have been at the Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding in Rockford as a volunteer for their “Horsin’ Around” event today. The evening is a salute to the Kentucky Derby and to the horses and riders of the Equest Center.  They are also celebrating the grand re-opening of their center.
My project was to come up with a design for 17 horse stalls and to have the barn looking like the grandeur of the Derby.  Everything I used was fresh, 65 bunches of greens and 480 red roses. The other volunteers that helped me were great and there was no “Horsin’ Around” when it came to putting the arrangements up!! Here’s the outcome…

The barn was smelling like roses!

Whiskey Barrels served as cocktail tables.
The signature drink of the event is mint juleps, of course!
Frames with greens and roses will hold signage
and be hung throughout the barn and arena
Events by I. Candy transformed the arena into this beautiful space!
Hard to believe this is a horse arena!
I think it’s time for a Mint Julep!
